【摘要】:Thisclassificationestablishesaseriesofdefiniteviscositylevelssothatlubricantsuppliers,lubricantusers,andequipmentdesignerswillhaveauniformandcommonbasisfordesignating,specifying,orselectingtheviscosityofindustrialfluidlubricants.Thisclassificationisusedtoeliminateunjustifiedintermediateviscosities,therebyreducingthetotalnumberofviscositygradesusedinthelubricationofindustrialequipment.Thissystemprovidesasuitablenumberofviscositygrades,auniformreferencetemperature,auniformviscositytolerance,andanomenclaturesystemforidentifyingtheviscositycharacteristicsofeachgrade.Thissystemimpliesnoevaluationoflubricantqualityandappliestonopropertyofafluidotherthanitsviscosityatthereferencetemperature.ItdoesnotapplytothoselubricantsusedprimarilywithautomotiveequipmentandidentifiedwithanSAEnumber.1.1Thisclassificationisapplicabletoallpetroleum-basefluidlubricantsandtothosenonpetroleummaterialswhichmaybereadilyblendedtoproducefluidlubricantsofadesiredviscosity,thatis,lubricantsforbearings,gears,compressorcylinders,hydraulicfluids,etc.1.2Thisclassificationisapplicabletofluidsranginginkinematicviscosityfrom2to3200cSt(mm2/s)asmeasuredatareferencetemperatureof40176;C.Inthecategoryofpetroleum-basefluids,thiscoverstherangefromkerosinetoheavycylinderoils.1.3Fluidsofeitherlesserorgreaterviscositythantherangedescribedin1.2are,atpresent,seldomusedasindustriallubricants.Shouldindustrialpracticeschange,thenthissystem,basedonamathematicalseriesofnumbers,maybeextendedtoretainitsorderlyprogression.
